Students explore concepts of psychology through lifelike scenarios focusing on aggression, addictive behavior, memory, interpersonal relations, and self-care. Students explore scientific methods of research as well as the major schools of psychology as they relate to issues in the five primary focus areas. Completion of this course will make students aware of the scientific method and its use in psychology, the importance of ethics and scientific study, and the relevance of psychology as a tool for self-understanding and its applications to daily life; students will also demonstrate knowledge of the significant contributors to the field of psychology, the six schools of psychology, basic brain structure and function, some aspects of human behavior and development, and basic types of psychological disorders and forms of therapy.
