In this course students study statistics, graphs, basic geometric concepts, set theory, networking, simple equations, and the coordinate plane. Students are given several opportunities to check their skills as they complete interactive activities throughout each lesson. Students completing this course will be able to discuss mathematical ideas, analyze mathematical situations, explain procedures for correct computation, and describe results using graphical, numerical, or algebraic representations; understand the concepts of variables and equations and explore relationships between quantities algebraically; and develop and apply problem-solving strategies, including finding patterns, estimating and testing, and drawing diagrams, to real-world situations using the following skills: addition subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, both positive and negative; charts, graphs and tables; set notation; exponents and scientific notation; and the coordinate plane.
